K-Tron Process Group Exhibits Process Automation Equipment for Batch and Continuous Food Processing at Process Expo 2009, October 5-7, Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV, Booth S-6816

K-TRON PROCESS GROUP - (August 26, 2009) – announces exhibition at  Process Expo 2009, October 5-7, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, booth S-6816 located in the upper south hall. Demos on display include: ActiFlow™ a new material flow aid that prevents bridging and rat-holing of cohesive materials in loss-in-weight feeder hoppers, K-Tron T35/S60 Quick Change feeder, Smart Weigh Belt feeder (SWB-300), K-Tron Premier P30 receiver for sanitary pneumatic conveying applications, K-Tron Premier 2415 Stainless Steel receiver, and the K-Tron Premier Quick Clean Aerolock™ rotary valve.

NEW Material Flow Aid: ActiFlow™
ActiFlow offers a new alternative to other forms of mechanical hopper agitation, reliably preventing bridging and rat-holing of cohesive materials in loss-in-weight feeder hoppers. ActiFlow is a non-product contact device, for applications where the ingredients are difficult flowing and / or cohesive.  ActiFlow eliminates the need for mechanical agitators with secondary motors and gearboxes and eliminates the need for flexible side wall agitation devices and aeration pads. ActiFlow greatly simplifies the cleaning process during material change-over and reduces headroom requirements.

NEW Design: K-Tron Premier P30 Sanitary Receiver
The K-Tron Premier P30 Sanitary Receiver is designed to convey difficult powders for continuous conveying applications such as hopper loading and loss-in-weight feeder refill applications that require a high level of sanitary design and frequent cleaning. The design includes a variety of discharge valve types including power flap, orifice slide gate, and butterfly valve. The receiver body is made of stainless steel (DIN 1.4404, AISI 316L), with internal and external electro polished surfaces. The modular design allows for easy disassembly and cleaning as well as simple expansion with volume extensions. Tri-Clover fittings allow for quick disconnection from conveying and vacuum piping. All units have reverse jet filter cleaning. The P-Series product line offers the P-10, P-30 and P-100 with conveying rates of up to 4,000 kg/hr (8,800 lb/hr).

K-Tron Premier 2415 Stainless Steel Receiver
K-Tron Premier model 2415 Stainless Steel Receiver is designed to convey free flowing powders or granular dry bulk materials for continuous conveying applications such as hopper loading and loss-in-weight refill applications that may not require a high level of sanitary design or frequent cleaning. The design includes a variety of discharge valve types including gravity flap, orifice slide gate and butterfly valve. The receiver body is made of stainless steel (AISI 304) with internal and external mill surface finish as standard. Models are also available in painted aluminum. The unit is equipped with quick-release clamps to facilitate easy cleanup, filter maintenance and fast disassembly. Its modular design allows flexibility in the selection of filtration, and receiver inlet sections. The 2415 receiver offers a conveying rate of up to 1000 kg/hr (2200 lb/hr). Other models in the 2400 series of receivers provide convey rates up to 6,800 kg/hr (15,000 lb/hr)

Quick-Change Feeder with ActiFlow™
K-Tron’s T35/S60 Quick Change Feeder (QC) is designed for applications requiring quick changeover of materials and convenience of fast cleaning. The QC feeder allows for the removal of the entire feed hopper with screws in place and replaced with a second unit. The removed hopper can then be transported to a cleaning facility for further disassembly, cleaning and prepped for another material. In loss-in-weight feeding applications where difficult flowing or cohesive materials form rat-holes or bridging in the hopper, K-Tron’s new ActiFlow flow aid eliminates the need for mechanical agitation greatly simplifying the cleaning process.

K-Tron Premier Quick Clean Rotary Aerolock™
The K-Tron Premier Quick-Clean (QC) Aerolock rotary valve is designed for contamination-sensitive applications where frequent disassembly and cleaning is required. It is also excellent for use with abrasive materials. Without disengaging the Aerolock from the system, it can be easily disassembled and cleaned by one person using a hand-held wrench. This exposes the rotor, end plates and housing chamber for easy cleaning without disturbing the seals or bearings. Upon reassembly, the original clearances are maintained without adjustment. Available in five sizes from 6 to 14 inches and designed to handle pressure differentials to 12 PSI, the QC Aerolock comes standard with a 10-blade stainless steel rotor for maximum labyrinth seal and wear life. The rotor is equipped with relieved tips to prevent material build-up on the housing.

Continuous Controlled Gravimetric Feeding: Smart Weigh Belt Feeder (SWB)
The K-Tron Smart Weigh Belt Feeder (SWB) offers continuous online auto tare reducing laborious manual calibration, and improving long term accuracy. Key features include advanced (SFT) Weighing Technology, auto belt tracking, improved belt cleaning, and improved inlet design. Weigh belt feeders are used in batch and continuous applications for controlling the flow rate of ingredients into the process or measurement of unmanageable flowing material. It is also applied in applications where headroom is limited, or when feeding friable material that may be damaged by other feeding methods. For more information visit: www.ktron.com/ProcessExpo
